Meet Andy | Scratch Coding Tutor

Meet Andy, a MAMA.codes tutor with over a decade of Computing experience, making coding fun and creative for kids through Scratch.

At MAMA.codes, Andy is all about sparking those magical Aha!” moments — the ones where a child realises, I just made that happen!” Whether it’s building their first animation or debugging a tricky piece of code, Andy loves seeing young learners light up with pride.

It’s like teaching mini-wizards how to cast their first spells, only with code instead of wands!”

Andy’s favourite projects? Interactive stories and games in Scratch. Think talking cats, flying doughnuts, and time-travelling robots! It’s a brilliant mix of creativity and logic that shows kids coding isn’t just about tech, it’s storytelling, imagination and fun.

With over a decade of experience teaching Computing, Andy has taught everything from Scratch to Python. For the past 3 years with MAMA.codes, he’s been helping children feel confident with technology, making coding playful and accessible every step of the way.

When he’s not coding, you’ll probably find Andy on the move — playing or watching football, taking part in running events, or hitting the tennis court. These interests can help him connect with children with similar interests and keep creativity flowing.

For Andy, coding is more than a skill — it’s a superpower. It teaches kids to think logically, solve problems and express themselves creatively. And whether they grow up to be software engineers, artists or astronauts, coding gives them the confidence to be creators in the digital world.
