COVID Safe Policy

As a business that has provided a safe and thriving environment for the children in our care, we feel it is important to detail how we will continue to do so as we follow Government guidelines on resuming face-to-face teaching — whether delivered through home tutoring, in community venues or in schools.

Following advice from Public Health England and the Department for Education, we have adapted our classes to ensure we keep your child safe while not losing the creativity and fun that is central to our imaginative coding experience!

Below are the measures we have put in place — please do read them, and be aware that when you book a face-to-face class with us, you are automatically signing up to these terms.

Parent Commitment

  • You will not attend class if your child or anyone in your household or school bubble exhibits a fever 24hrs or less before class, or if your child has experienced Covid symptoms less than 14 days before a class (a new continuous cough, a fever or a loss of taste or smell).
  • You will take any coats or bags home once you have dropped off your child, as we are unable to store them at the venue.
  • If government guidelines require a scheduled face-to-face class to be cancelled, you agree to attend an equivalent class Online, or request a credit against a future course with us. We are unfortunately unable to offer refunds should changes to the Covid prevention regulations make it impossible for us to deliver this class face to face.

MAMA.codes commitment

  • Before entry to class, each child will receive a temperature check to ensure no fever is present. If a reading over 37 degrees is observed we will ask the carer to take the child home.
  • Sanitiser will be provided. Children will be asked to sanitize their hands when seated, Tutors will wipe all devices at the start and end of class, and regular hand washing will be maintained where appropriate
  • Registration will take place Online (as opposed to paper) before entry to class to minimise contact, and carers are not permitted to enter the venue
  • Class sizes will be in line with government guidelines, but we will maintain our staff ratio of 1:6 for study groups to reduce contact
  • Once seated, we commit to keeping children socially distanced from other attendees as far as possible, as long as they all follow our rules
  • There will be no contact or direct hand-holding, between the children or with the tutor
  • Social distancing will be maintained at all times, with children spaced out at a minimum of 1m+ (2m preferred)
  • Our tutors will have PPE — masks, a visor and touchscreen gloves for themselves, and sanitizer and wipes for devices and hands (before and after class).
  • Our tutors have First Aid training, and will administer care with gloves and masks if required.

HOME TUTORING

To keep both your child and our tutors safe, we will follow these additional guidelines:

  • We will request parents share their child’s temperature the night before class. If the temperature is above 37 the class will be rescheduled.
  • Carers will ensure rooms are airy and well-ventilated, and that social distancing can be enforced. If on arrival the tutor feels this criteria is not met, they have the right to either cancel the class or move it online.

Please note: MAMA.codes carefully monitors and adheres to the latest Government guidelines to minimise the risk of transmission of Covid 19. We are grateful to our partner venues and parent community for their support in this. We are, however, working with excitable children who may not follow our rules 100% of the time, so we would sadly advise families who are shielding not to attend and to consider our Online classes. By attending a face-to-face class, you accept that MAMA.codes Ltd cannot be held responsible if an attendee of the class falls ill.
